George Packer is an American journalist, novelist, and playwright. He is a staff writer covering foreign policy at The Atlantic and wrote for The New Yorker from 2003 to 2018. His book Our Man: Richard Holbrooke and the End of the American Century was a 2019 Pulitzer Prize finalist.

William A. Galston, an editorial board member of American Purpose, is senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Governance Studies Program and is a weekly columnist for the Wall Street Journal.
